Effective January 1, 1993, as planned, Dr. Beatrice B. Hagen relinquished her position as president of Logan College of Chiropractic for these past 12 years.
The Logan board of trustees announced that 48-year-old George A. Goodman, D.C., a native of Peoria, Illinois will now head the college. Dr. Goodman is a 1968 Logan graduate who has served as a member of the Logan faculty the past 24 years; the last 10 years as the college's vice president of chiropractic affairs. He has also held the administrative posts of clinic director and dean of the school of postgraduate education.
In announcing Dr. Goodman's appointment as president, Logan Board of Trustee's Chairperson Dr. Ronald L. Harris stated he was confident that the board had selected the best person to lead Logan. Dr. Harris described Dr. Goodman as an "extremely effective faculty member and administrator."
Dr. Goodman has worked extensively with the Commission on Accreditation (COA), the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE)'s accrediting body for chiropractic colleges. He has been a COA member since 1986, serving as secretary in 1988-89, vice chairman from 1990-1992, and acting chairman from December 1991 until February 1992.
In the international arena, Dr. Goodman has been United States representative on the Australasian Council on Chiropractic and Osteopathic Education, and for the Canadian Council on Chiropractic Education's Commission on Accreditation.
At the community level, Dr. Goodman has served on the Missouri Statewide Health Coordinating Council, and on the Health Committee of the St. Louis Council on Aging.
Dr. Goodman's good works have not gone unrecognized: He received the Distinguished Service Award of the Logan College Alumni Association in 1982; was named Logan Alumni of the Year in 1989; was elected a Fellow of the International College of Chiropractors in 1983; and was presented a Distinguished Service award by the Canadian Council on Chiropractic Education in 1992.
Dr. Goodman has completed graduate programs in orthopedics, roentgenology, and physical therapy, and is board-qualified in chiropractic orthopedics. He is licensed to practice in Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana.
Dr. Goodman and wife Linda have three children and reside in Florissant, Missouri.
When I graduated from chiropractic college in 1981 and started practice, I heard it all, and very little was positive. “You are a quack; you do not know what a subluxation is; you couldn’t get into a real health care program, so you chose the one that is slightly above a mail-order degree; you have no proof that chiropractic works; Are you really licensed?”, and so much more.

The results of a global survey released late last year (2023) unveiled some startling findings among medical and nursing students. The “Clinician of the Future: 2023 Education Edition” surveyed 2,212 students, of which 446 were in the United States, from 91 countries.
