New York's highest court of appeals has held that no-fault insurers cannot deny no-fault benefits where they unilaterally determine that a provider has committed misconduct based upon alleged fraudulent conduct. The Court held that this authority belongs solely to state regulators, specifically New York's Board of Regents, which oversees professional licensing and discipline. This follows a similar recent ruling in Florida reported in this publication.
Activator Methods, Inc., Becomes CCF Sponsor
Activator Methods, Inc., has joined the Chiropractic Centennial Foundation (CCF) as a $15,000 Emerald Club Sponsor.
"As the Chiropractic Centennial nears, I'm urging all technique people to get involved with the CCF today," said Dr. Arlan Fuhr, president of Activator Methods. "Pioneers in chiropractic fought for our profession in the past -- let's do our duty now."
"We're pleased that Activator Methods has joined as a sponsor, and we hope to continue to gain new sponsorships throughout '94," said Rick Flaherty, chair of fundraising and sponsorships for the CCF. "Dr. Arlan Fuhr is involved in Centennial Foundation committees and is very active in the profession," Mr. Flaherty added.
More Associations Join Centennial Foundation
The American Black Chiropractic Association (ABCA), the Federation of Straight Chiropractic Organizations (FSCO), the Canadian Chiropractic Association, the New York Chiropractic Council, the Tennessee Chiropractic Association, and the West Virginia Chiropractic Society have all joined the CCF, bringing the number of state associations to 52.
"It is important that every chiropractic organization become a part of this celebration," said Dr. Cal B. Whitworth, ABCA president. The ABCA has 150 DC members and 75 student members. "In the last 100 years, the profession has grown from just a few doctors to thousands. At the ABCA, we hope to encourage people from many diverse ethnic backgrounds to find out more about chiropractic."
The Canadian Chiropractic Association was the most recent country association to join the Centennial Foundation, bringing the country total to eight. Other members include the Mexican, Spanish, British, Japanese, Norwegian, and Swiss chiropractic associations.
"We're pleased to see so many state, country, and provincial associations joining," said Dr. William F. Holmberg, president of the CCF. "State association dues are only $1,250, which can be paid in increments until 1995. We encourage these state associations to commit to the CCF as grassroots representatives of the Chiropractic Centennial."
