When sports chiropractors first appeared at the Olympic Games in the 1980s, it was alongside individual athletes who had experienced the benefits of chiropractic care in their training and recovery processes at home. Fast forward to Paris 2024, where chiropractic care was available in the polyclinic for all athletes, and the attitude has now evolved to recognize that “every athlete deserves access to sports chiropractic."
Delaware DCs Pledge $5,000 to CCF
Drs. Allen Foster and Debra Hobbs, a married couple practicing in Lewes, Delaware, pledged $5,000 to the Chiropractic Centennial Foundation (CCF) at a Foot Levelers, Inc. Countdown '93 seminar in November.
Both doctors expressed a great deal of emotion when talking about their commitment to chiropractic. "I watched the CCF Grand Celebration video through teary eyes," said Dr. Hobbs. "It's important to remember the struggles of those who came before us. We reap the benefits of their fight, and it's up to us to support the profession of today and tomorrow."
Dr. Foster had similar feelings. "I was born into a chiropractic family, and I've watched my father give countless hours back to the profession and his alma mater. My personal goal is to continue to give back to chiropractic as a tribute to my father and as a foundation for my children."
"Dr. Foster and Dr. Hobbs are projecting a great image for young chiropractors, and the entire profession," said Dr. William Holmberg, president of the CCF. "They only graduated a year and a half ago, and we're proud that they wanted to share some of their success with the Centennial Foundation."
Two Associations Join CCF
The Chiropractic Association of Louisiana has joined the CCF, bringing the total number of state associations to 47.
La Sociedad Cientifico Quiropractica de Mexico has also joined the CCF, bringing the total number of country associations outside the US to seven. Those members include: The Asociacion Espanola de Quiropractica, the Associazione Italiana Chiropracticic (Genoa), British Chiropractic Association, the Chiropractic Council of Japan, the Norwegian Chiropractors' Association, and the Association of Swiss Chiropractors.
"We're striving to get every state, country, and provincial association to join," said Dr. Holmberg. "State association dues are only $1,250, which can be paid in increments until 1995. We encourage these state associations to commit to the CCF as grass roots representatives of the Chiropractic Centennial."

Chicago Chiropractic Society Pledges $10,000+ to CCF
Members of the Chicago Chiropractic Society pledged over $10,000 to the CCF at a recent meeting. Members showed their support by making $1,000 Sapphire Club donations and $500 Ruby Club donations.
"It's an exciting time of celebration that is long overdue," said Daniel Michalec, DC, past president of the Illinois Chiropractic Society (ICS) and current ICS representative to the Centennial Foundation. "We're celebrating the tremendous progress chiropractic has made over the years. Through their donations, our members are expressing that excitement as well."
"We're hoping the other districts and other state associations will jump on the bandwagon and make donations to this historic celebration," added Dr. Michalec.
Entertainment/Continuing Ed. Are Focuses of CCF Planning Meeting
The CCF held its quarterly meeting December 8-9 in Chicago. The main focuses among the subjects discussed were continuing education and entertainment for the Grand Celebration.
"We're close to making a decision about an entertainment director," said Dr. Holmberg. "The director should be announced shortly after the first of the year."
The CCF has also approved a tentative speakers list for continuing education, with speaker confirmations pending. "We have a list of some impressive speakers from all over the country. We are in the process of pulling our plans together, so we can put them into action," said Dr. Holmberg.
