Ralph Miller, EdD, has left his long-held position as executive vice president of the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE). He is succeeded by Paul Walker, PhD, who began his duties on June 12th. The CCE is an autonomous national chiropractic college accrediting organization recognized by the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation, and by the U.S. Secretary of Education since 1974.
A native of Southeastern Pennsylvania, Dr. Walker has considerable experience in higher education accreditation through his service as a consultant/evaluator on visiting accrediting teams to colleges. He is also experienced in educational leadership and organizational management, strategic planning of programs and services, and financial and personnel management.
He earned a BA in music from West Chester University in Pennsylvania, and taught music and directed public school bands, orchestras, and ensembles in Arizona for eight years. After receiving an MA in music theory and composition from Arizona State University, he became a founding member of Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona, where he developed the music program and served for six years as director of the Division of Fine and Applied Arts. Later in his tenure Dr. Walker was the instructional coordinator (dean) for the community campus, a "campus without walls" that offers courses at over 60 sites.
Dr. Walker was awarded a PhD in higher education leadership at the University of Arizona, and served as chancellor of the Rockville campus of Montgomery College, a multi-campus community college in Rockville, Maryland. Subsequently, Dr. Walker became president of Everett Community College in Everett, Washington, and president of Yavapai College in Prescott, Arizona.
Recognized as a leader in community colleges, Dr. Walker has been active in service organizations, in arts advocacy, community outreach programs affiliated with his church, and various musical endeavors.
Dr. Walker has been married to Madelyn Sue for 35 years. The Walkers have raised four daughters, all of whom have completed one or more college degrees.
