New York's highest court of appeals has held that no-fault insurers cannot deny no-fault benefits where they unilaterally determine that a provider has committed misconduct based upon alleged fraudulent conduct. The Court held that this authority belongs solely to state regulators, specifically New York's Board of Regents, which oversees professional licensing and discipline. This follows a similar recent ruling in Florida reported in this publication.
Call for Chiropractic Family Histories/Photographs for Centennial Artifact and Photo Display
The Association for the History of Chiropractic and the Chiropractic Centennial Foundation (CCF) invite families who have had 15 or more immediate or extended family members (living or deceased) who became chiropractors to be included in the Historic Artifact and Photo Display. Take this opportunity to include your family as an important part of the history of the profession.
A photo book, Chiropractic Families Viewbook, containing family photographs and descriptions provided by chiropractic colleges and private families, will be published. Photographs will be accompanied by a family description, such as a family tree, or a short article about the history of the family. The Chiropractic Families Viewbook will be on display at the Historic Artifact and Photo Exhibit area at both Chiropractic Centennial Celebrations.
Ms. Sofya Belair, curator of the Centennial Historic Exhibit, will be organizing materials for the book. She has already requested materials from the chiropractic colleges, and would now like to hear from the individual families.
Please do not forward any materials at this time. If you are able to submit family photos with descriptions, first contact Ms. Belair by telephone, fax, or mail. She will then provide you with project guidelines for requested materials. The deadline for response is March 31, 1995. You may contact her at the following address:
