NCMIC Calls Leadership Conference

The National Chiropractic Mutual Insurance Company (NCMIC) has invited representatives from each of the major chiropractic organizations to meet regarding the top five issues facing the chiropractic profession today. The conference is similar to one held over a decade ago by the nursing profession to consider its future.1

The conference will be held in Chicago, September 20-21, 1996. Two representatives from each of the following groups have been invited to represent the points of view of their respective organizations:

  • American Chiropractic Association
  • Association of Chiropractic Colleges
  • Congress of Chiropractic State Associations * Consortium for Chiropractic Research (recently renamed the American Spinal Research Foundation) * Council on Chiropractic Education * Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards * Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research * Foundation for the Advancement of Chiropractic Tenets and Science
  • International Chiropractors Association * National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (as an Observer) * World Federation of Chiropractic
The Leadership Conference needs your direction. Please take a moment to jot down what you believe are the five most important problems or issues facing your profession. Feel free to include any pertinent documentation.

The Chiropractic Hub will advance federal policy, expand patient access, and build broad public support for chiropractic care across America.”

Pain has become the dominant language of musculoskeletal healthcare. Numeric pain-rating scales and symptom reports are routinely used as primary indicators of clinical success. But while pain reduction is meaningful, it is an incomplete and often misleading representation of recovery. This has real consequences for patient adherence, long-term outcomes, and how conservative care is perceived within the broader healthcare system.
