Rep. Crane to Introduce Chiropractic Bill

Washington, D.C. -- U.S. Congressional Representative Phil Crane (R-Illinois) announced that he will introduce independent legislation in support of President Clinton's effort to eliminate the mandatory Medicare x-ray requirement for chiropractors. The bill (yet to be numbered) will feature almost identical language to the section of the President Clinton's 1997 budget proposal dealing with the elimination of the Medicare x-ray requirement.

Next to Chairman Bill Archer, Representative Crane is the senior-ranking Republican member of the full House Ways and Means Committee. This is one of the key committees having jurisdiction over Medicare in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The introduction of this new bill will establish support for the elimination of mandatory medicare x-rays on the Republican side of the aisle. Representative Crane has a proven track record of support for chiropractic issues and an extensive working relationship with the American Chiropractic Association (ACA).
