When sports chiropractors first appeared at the Olympic Games in the 1980s, it was alongside individual athletes who had experienced the benefits of chiropractic care in their training and recovery processes at home. Fast forward to Paris 2024, where chiropractic care was available in the polyclinic for all athletes, and the attitude has now evolved to recognize that “every athlete deserves access to sports chiropractic."

Logan Appointments
Nelson Marquina, PhD, DC, has been named Logan's director of research and development, and Gary Sanders, PhD, has taken on the job of special projects' coordinator. Both doctors will report to William Ramsey, PhD, Logan's vice president of academic affairs.
Dr. Marquina, a graduate of Logan this past April, earned a PhD in industrial and systems' engineering from the University of Houston. Dr. Marquina has worked as an artificial intelligence specialist, and has conducted research on robotics. He has held high-level corporate positions in systems' administration. At Logan, Dr. Marquina will oversee the college's institutional research program, the senior research program and the preparation of grant proposals.
Dr. Sanders, who holds the rank of associate professor and teaching laboratory diagnosis and endocrinology at Logan, has been with the college as a faculty member and administrator for 14 years. As the special projects' coordinator, Dr. Sanders will oversee 25 administrative areas related to the college's curriculum and campus operations, including the direction of the biohazard safety committee and the clinical laboratories program.
Dr. Parker Invited to Serve on Research Foundation Board
Louise Gartner, founder and president of the Alternative Medicine Research Foundation of Texas (AMRFT), has invited Parker College president, Dr. W. Karl Parker, to serve on the board of trustees.
The AMRFT, which was chartered in Sept. 1997 to promote nonpharmaceutical and nonsurgical approaches to health through research and education, has recently sponsored lectures by Dr. David Eisenberg and Dr. Michael Lerner.
Logan Faculty in the News
Logan College of Chiropractic recently announced its faculty council. The council's newly-elected officers are:
President -- Ronald Grant, DC, FICC, associate professor of chiropractic science; Vice President -- Gary Sanders, PhD, special projects coordinator;
Secretary -- Karen Dishauzi, DC, instructor of chiropractic science;
Treasurer -- Lee Juhan, DC, instructor of chiropractic science;
Member-at Large -- Peter Schoeb, DC, instructor of clinical and chiropractic sciences.
D. Robert Kuhn, DC, DACBR, was elected by the council to be its representative to the alumni association's board of directors. Dr. Kuhn is an assistant professor of clinical science and a faculty member of Logan's radiology department.
