When sports chiropractors first appeared at the Olympic Games in the 1980s, it was alongside individual athletes who had experienced the benefits of chiropractic care in their training and recovery processes at home. Fast forward to Paris 2024, where chiropractic care was available in the polyclinic for all athletes, and the attitude has now evolved to recognize that “every athlete deserves access to sports chiropractic."
Chiropractic Insert Hits April Issue of Prevention
When readers open their April issue of Prevention magazine, they will see a lot about chiropractic. Beginning on page 21 in the "Mail Bag" section, millions will read letters from ICA President Robert Braile,DC and ACA President Michael Pedigo,DC as they respond to a previous article in the February issue of Prevention dealing with "A Consumer's Guide to Alternative Medicine."
Just a few pages later, a four-page insert is featured on "Whole Body Healing." This insert was purchased by the Alliance for Chiropractic Progress as part of their 1998 chiropractic advertising campaign (Please see "Alliance Unveils First year of PR Campaign" in the December 15, 1997 issue of Dynamic Chiropractic.) The insert features information about chiropractic the way it should be presented. Included are quotes from Drs. Braile and Pedigo, and one by Dr. Carl Cleveland,III on chiropractic educational accreditation.
Perhaps the highlight of the four pages is the comparison between chiropractic and medical curriculums. This provides readers with a very quantitative review of the qualifications of DCs.
The insert ends with a toll-free number to call for more information. This is the first of two inserts that will be featured in Prevention along with a total of five full-page ads.
Chiropractic is further featured in an article in the second half of the issue entitled: "Looking for Dr. Natural." The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) and the International Chiropractors Association (ICA) are both featured as sources of referral along with their respective websites.

The Alliance was created by the ACA, ICA and the Association of Chiropractic Colleges (ACC). An initial printing of 100,000 copies of the four-page Prevention insert was divided between the ICA and ACA. But this powerful story should be told more than just 100,000 times.
Buy a copy of Prevention's April issue. Review the four-page insert that is found after page 24. (Don't forget to read the "Mail Bag" section on page 19 and the "Dr. Natural" article on page 104.) If you like what you see in the insert, you can order reprints from either the ACA (703-276-8800) or the ICA (703-528-5000).
