When sports chiropractors first appeared at the Olympic Games in the 1980s, it was alongside individual athletes who had experienced the benefits of chiropractic care in their training and recovery processes at home. Fast forward to Paris 2024, where chiropractic care was available in the polyclinic for all athletes, and the attitude has now evolved to recognize that “every athlete deserves access to sports chiropractic."
Draft of ICA's Clinical Guidelines on Line
The International Chiropractors Association (ICA) has posted a draft document of its Chiropractic Clinical Guidelines and Practice Parameters* on its website (www.chiropractic.org ) for review and comment by the chiropractic profession.
(* Not to be confused with the Council on Chiropractic Guidelines and Practice Parameters (CCGPP), the group coordinating the updating of the Mercy Guidelines.)
The draft for comment is the work of more than 50 people over the last two years. Dr. Gary Walsemann is the chairman of the ICA guidelines. The committee members are:
Dr. Francis Corbin
Dr. Ian Grassam
Dr. Samuel Haley
Dr. Christopher Kent
Dr. Henry Rubenstein
Dr. Brian Burns
Dr. Michael Petrie
Mr. James Harrison
Mr. Ronald Hendrickson
The ICA's objective of the comment and review period is to "gather objective input, new data and perspective" prior to the publication of a first edition. The intention is go beyond the assessments expressed by the ICA's self-selected group. It is the ICA's pledge to "review in detail and carefully consider the merits of all comments and to collect and make available a summary of information gathered in the comment period."
The ICA hopes in particular to add data and references on which the recommendations are based, but invites written comments on any aspect of the guidelines. Address your comments to:
