Back pain? Blame the psoas. Seems as if everybody wants to dive headfirst into their psoas at the first sign of trouble with the lumbopelvic-hip region. Perhaps no other muscle is blamed more for causing problems than the psoas. Yes, it is an important stabilizer of the lumbar spine, but it shouldn't be the only one on which you focus. Chiropractor Joins Staff at Amsterdam, New York Hospital
This April, Dr. Douglas J. Van Vorst was granted hospital privileges at Amsterdam Memorial in Amsterdam, New York. Dr. Van Vorst is only the second chiropractor in the state to be given hospital privileges, and the first in upstate New York. In the northeast region, there are only four hospitals that have granted hospital privileges to DCs.
Dr. Van Vorst will work in the division of chiropractic within the department of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Amsterdam Memorial.
Dr. Van Vorst is a 1982 graduate of Springfield College in Springfield, Mass., and a 1986 graduate of New York Chiropractic College. He has earned postgraduate certifications as a sports practitioner and in manipulation under anesthesia. He has also completed a program on hospital protocols at the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic, and is enrolled in a diplomate rehabilitation program at the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic.
Dr. Van Vorst is a member of his state association, the American Chiropractic Association, the American Association of Spine Physicians, and the American Academy of Pain Management.
He resides in Perth with his wife and children.
