| Digital ExclusiveShort Speak: Internet Acronyms On Line
Thousands of years ago, prehistoric cave dwellers painted upon their walls to express themselves. Today's modern cave dwellers - the faceless millions who inhabit internet chat rooms and message boards - desire more immediate expression. Chatters are in such a hurry that spelling out complete words seems prehistoric. Chat room short-speak (dreadful acronyms) is omnipresent, with entire conversations being conducted on line with nary a complete word surfacing.
If you're confused about some of these acronyms, ChiroWeb has compiled a list and the meanings of the most often-used short speak. You can find our list at www.ChiroWeb.com/special/acronyms.html . The section also contains an e-mail link for submitting your own acronyms to the list.
