As we go to press, over 1,000 doctors of chiropractic have registered to participate on ChiroWeb's DCs Only Forum (our online discussion forum for DCs only). This number represents a more-than-400% increase since ChiroWeb switched to a password-based registration system for its discussion forums in October.

We encourage you to register to join the DCs Only Forum at your earliest convenience. To register, click on the "Discussion Forums" box on ChiroWeb's homepage. That will take you to a list of forums, the first being the DCs Only Forum. If you haven't already registered, you must click on the "Start Here" link. That takes you to a screen where you'll enter your personal ID and password that was provided to you on the front page of the November 15, 1999 issue of DC. Because they have yet to pass national legislation protecting the chiropractic profession, Japanese DCs are in a similar situation that U.S. DCs faced. We were fortunate enough to be able to pass chiropractic licensure state by state. The DCs in Japan must accomplish this nationally, which has proved to be an extremely difficult task. There has long been an attempt by those who are not legitimate doctors of chiropractic to usurp the title of chiropractor from those who have earned their degree from an accredited chiropractic program. This generally happens in countries where the local doctors of chiropractic have yet to pass legislation requiring a degree from an accredited institution. The result is essentially two chiropractic professions. Nowhere is this danger more pronounced than in Japan.
