F4CP President Honored

Foundation for Chiropractic Progress (F4CP) President Dr. Sherry McAllister is the 2025 recipient of Logan University’s Dr. Beatrice B. Hagen Award. The annual award honors Dr. Hagen, a 1940 graduate of the institution, who achieved two significant firsts in the profession: first female president of a chiropractic college and first woman to serve on the Council of Chiropractic Education.

“Dr. Hagen was a pioneer; receiving an award in her name is humbling. It’s a reminder to live boldly, lead with integrity and strive to do what is right,” said Dr. McAllister in an F4CP press release. “I am on a mission to build public awareness about chiropractic care and right now the future is extraordinarily bright.”

NBCE Student Leadership Forum

Earlier this year, the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE) hosted its 22nd Annual Student Leadership Forum, with five national student organizations and representatives of eight chiropractic colleges in attendance. An NBCE release detailed some of what took place at this year’s forum:

“NBCE resident experts shared not only the science behind the development and administration of NBCE’s written and practical exams, but global insights on the state of chiropractic regulation, rational for standardized exams, cost of exam administration, a financial overview, and an introduction to the psychometric process of exam scoring.

“Student leaders provided detailed feedback to the NBCE about their experience with applications, exam administration and security, and score reporting during a NBCE facilitated focus group session. They asked important questions about proposed updates to the NBCE Part IV exam and shared their hope for the future of testing. Their valuable feedback will help improve communications, the NBCE website, and the application and testing services provided to examinees.”

New ICA Takes the Helm

As of April 1, 2025, Dr. Edwin Cordero is the new chief executive officer of the International Chiropractors Association (ICA), succeeding Dr. Stephen P. Welsh, who was appointed interim CEO in November of last year. In making the announcement, ICA President Dr. Selina Sigafoose Jackson stated:

“As we enter our 99th year, the ICA needs a strong, proven chiropractic leader at the helm to facilitate our vision, mission, and goals. Dr. Edwin Cordero is that leader. I look forward to working with him and seeing the ICA and chiropractic flourish through our efforts.”
