New York's highest court of appeals has held that no-fault insurers cannot deny no-fault benefits where they unilaterally determine that a provider has committed misconduct based upon alleged fraudulent conduct. The Court held that this authority belongs solely to state regulators, specifically New York's Board of Regents, which oversees professional licensing and discipline. This follows a similar recent ruling in Florida reported in this publication.
Mercy Center Conference Guidelines to Be Distributed to All U.S. Chiropractors
The requests for information on the Establishment of Guidelines for Chiropractic Quality Assurance and Standards of Practice (Mercy Conference Guidelines) have been non-stop. The response from the profession has been overwhelming. Everyone is asking, "When can I get a copy? How do I order one?"
Thanks to the generosity of several of the most prominent companies in the chiropractic profession, every chiropractor in the United States will receive a copy of this important document AT NO CHARGE. This will allow every chiropractor the opportunity to examine the recommendations, consider their applications, and present a written response.
The approximately 350 page guidelines document will be mailed to each chiropractor who is a NCMIC policy holder; a Foot Levelers client; an OUM Group policy holder; or receives Dynamic Chiropractic. The organizations who are donating the money to make this possible are:
NCMIC
Foot Levelers, Inc.
OUM Group
Leander Health Technologies
Activator Methods
Motion Palpation Institute
Society of Chiropractic Management Consultants
Synergy
Visual Odyssey
The copies are expected to be mailed in late May or early June. Please alert your staff.
[Please note that this article is provided on a historical basis. The Mercy Guidelines were distributed in June, 1992. Copies may be purchased by calling 1-800-359-2289]
